Norwegian is a Germanic and Scandinavian language mostly spoken in Norway. Norwegian is the official language of Norway and is also spoken by many people in Sweden. It shares many characteristics with Swedish and Danish as they all are rooted in Old Norse. It also shares a lot with English and German due to its classification as a Germanic language. Norwegian truly has many influences, making many people consider it to be a relatively easy language to learn. Learning Norwegian offers a doorway into the world and culture of not only Norway, but also all the Scandinavian countries. The goal of Level 1 is to leave you with a wide basis of vocabulary, an ability to converse freely in Norwegian, and a beginner's knowledge of Norwegian grammar, sentence structure, and syntax. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to have conversations in Norwegian and will have a strong foundation to continue learning the language and new vocabulary.
